Chicago, IL - Due to exuberant fan demand Low-Reen and the Maxwell Street Blues are back at Polk Street this summer for our weekly Sunday blues jam! Chicago Electric Blues were born on Maxwell Street, and went on to inspire and heavily influence blues and blues rock that followed. After Maxwell Street blues musicians lost their place to get together and jam, they found Polk Street Pub. For several years now, it has become a summer tradition to get together Sunday in the late afternoon, and jam out on the patio from the sunshine into the sunset. Every week is different, as you never know who will show up! Some of the best known old school bluesmen from Maxwell Street’s heyday still come to play every week. Come to play, or just come to listen! Enjoy the best little hidden gem of an ivy beer garden in the South Loop with the best people. Cheap eats and great drink specials all night too!
Free to the public! Never a cover; always a great time! Weather dependent, this is an outdoors event.

The Butterfly Poetry Project is a venue for women by women… Each of the artists featured is a Butterfly that took flight into the universe through her art. Through the performances and presentations each of the Butterflies that grace us with her performance will touch another women so she too can take flight!
The Butterfly Effect Project envisions a world in which women are valued as human beings growing, working, and living in a state of neutrality and peace. Through intentional practices of self-discovery, introspection and communal growth, the Butterfly Effect Poetry Project showcases women poets, especially women of color and LBGT women. This project exists to provide a catalyst for interaction, dialogue and growth for Chicago women. It will serve as a social justice community forum that educates and empowers women on issues by promoting confidence, self-respect and self-worth.
Callles y Suenos in Pilsen is the venue that will provide an opportunity for women to have a space that honors women's cultural/sexual identities and their stories, build community collaborations, and provide an inclusive space for all women to reflect on our multiple identities through the various artistic modalitie including dance spoken word, and music.
