It's called an open mic, but it's more of a loosely run jam. Drums, PA and some back line are provided. Signed in players perform 3 to 5 songs. Other skilled musicians might jump in to back you up. Genera range from classic rock to folk to blues to a young lady attempting to sing an Ariana Grande song while being backed up by several 60 year old guys who just gave the song a listen on their phones. It's all fun and everyone is encouraging.

Two slots are reserved for new performers until 6:55, and those who played last week are asked to defer to those who did not.

Performances run from 7:00 PM until 9:45 PM. Please check the calendar on the event web site https://folkclubofrestonherndon.org/, since there are concerts and special events some Tuesdays. Acoustic music is preferred.

There are 4 microphones and 4 direct inputs to the sound board. We encourage listening during the performance, and have a short intermission at the halfway point.

Hi again, fellow music lovers, players, songwriters and vocalists.

We at the Tuning Fork are working to get back some of that "Weekly Monday Night Splendor" previously known and loved as Open Mic @ The Tuning Fork. Except this Summer we're doing it on a monthly basis.

Same high-quality original and cover music from your fellow friends and family; Same stage, PA, Lighting, Stand-up Piano & Cajón drum; Same wonderful variety of food and drink with musician specials; and if you like, the perfect chance to join together at the end of our sets for a little jam session!

So we hope to see you back again here at The Tuning Fork this Sat. And if you've yet to perform, you're gonna love the venue's laid-back communal vibe.

Thanks, and see y'all tonight,

Ric

Bring your instrument and share your music or just come and be entertained by the local talent. All ages and abilities are welcome. The open mic leans towards the acoustic side of things, but electric instruments are welcome (though plugging directly into the PA or bringing a small amplifier is preferred - Brian controls the volume). The typical set-up is two vocal mics and two direct input (DI) boxes. Please let me know ahead of time if you have special requirements.

If you want to perform, there will be a sign up sheet available 20 minutes before the start time. Please introduce yourself so he can put a face to the name on the sheet. Brian will start the evening with a few tunes and then start through the sign up sheet. Each performer will perform 3-4 tunes, depending on how busy the night is. If there is time, we will go back to the top of the list for another song or two.

Collaboration is encouraged, but please wait to be invited before joining in.

In honor or Bob Dylan's 84th Birthday, join us for this special all Bob Dylan Open Mic hosted by Bob's cous, Dianna March and touring recording artist Andy Kimbel. Andy originated and has been hosting these special "Bob Dylan Birthday tribute" events events since 1999 at several venues on the East Coast. If you don't want to perform a Bob Dylan tune or perhaps you don't know one, then heck, no problem, perform one of our own the way Bob Dylan would. This Annual event at Jeweled Universe has become a fun and entertaining evening. Please do come out and join us. (Can you look like Bob?) There is a very good upright piano on stage for those you play. Solo and duo only, no bands. It gets underway at 6:30 and ends at about 10. See you there!

This is a variation of an open mic. In the style of LA's Writer's Round, there are three rounds of performers. The first round consists of three performers selected randomly from a bowl. Artists can show up early to get their name included or sign up online (https://www.storyandtune.com/writers-round-sd). Each artist takes a turn performing one song, explaining the story or talking about the songwriting process. Artists play two songs total in the first round. The second round is the featured round of three artists previously arranged by the host. The featured performers do the same thing as the first round, but play four songs total. After round two, each featured artist picks a name out of the bowl for the final round. This is a great opportunity to network with local songwriters and creators. Many notable musicians have already attended to include: Lee Coulter, Jeff Berkeley, Aaron Bowen, Rachel de Koekkoek, and Joshua Taylor.

Nice, friendly open mic. Usually two songs but on slow nights three songs and/or we go around again. Good sound but it's not a listening room, it's a brew pub. Nice folks and a good mix of originals and covers is welcomed. If you arrive too late for the list talk with the host and he'll do his best to get you on.

Join host Fre every Sunday for the The Sunday Acoustic Open Mic Night at Arnold's in Saint Augustine. We're set up for duo's and trio's as well so bring a friend or two and belt out your best Suite: Judy Blue Eyes, Dog & Butterfly, or any other great tune you'd like!" but we are in search of a new venue. Stay tuned for news of our New Home!

Having been asked for a bit of operational details… Generally, Fre plays a set while everyone gets settled, signs up, grabs a drink and gets tuned, then we start running the list.

3 songs each as a rule – give or take depending upon how many are on the list. Those traveling can sign up in advance. When you sign up you’ve the option of whether you’d like others to sit in with you, if you’d like to sit in with others and/or you wish to run solo.

All acoustic save for an electric digital piano, bass and the occasional electric violin. We’ve 4 vocal mics, 1 instrument mic

and a pair of a/b boxes run as well as additional channels for any other instrument - everyone is encouraged to clap their hands, stomp their feet and sing along as well!

All good people and good fun, a family friendly establishment, we don’t tolerate hate speak, vulgarity or rudeness.

We’ve a great group of people – a very warm and welcoming environment!

Come Out & Play!!

High Street Coffee House is returning to IN PERSON events on Friday, April 1, at 7:00 PM in the sanctuary of the Boscawen Congregational Church. Our feature will be the Heather Pierson Duo. Heather will open the evening, followed by 8-10 open mic slots for musicians, poets, and comedians (two or three songs, depending on how many performers sign up.) The feature does a short set at the end, and we usually wrap up by 9:30. Admission is FREE, though a 'virtual' donation basket is passed. Light refreshments will be sold.

PROOF OF VACCINATION WILL BE REQUIRED AT INDOOR EVENTS.

Friday, May 6 will feature Rupert Wates in the sanctuary. On Saturday, June 4, we will move outside to the church park for a 4-7 pm event, featuring Richard Lewis. Saturday afternoon, July 2, will feature Decatur Creek. Hamburgers, hot dogs, and other picnic food will be sold.

Questions? Call 603-520-9196, or to sign up for 'open mic' email Liz at HighStreetCoffeeHouse@gmail.com.

Admission is free but we pass a basket for donations. Doors open at 6:15 and food for snacking or a light dinner, as well as coffee, tea & bottled water, is available by donation. Our feature performer opens and closes each event, and in between are 8-10 open mic slots (2 songs or 10 minutes). Performers must sign up ahead of time by emailing Liz at highstreetcoffeehouse@gmail.com. If you performed the previous month, you go to the bottom of the list. Questions? Call Chris at 603-520-9196. Our events have featured some of our region's best singer/songwriters doing original songs, as well familiar covers. We've had folk, bluegrass, blues, jazz, and contemporary Christian music, as well as occasional poetry and (clean, our host is a church!)comedy.

Note that our 1st Friday in December event is a holiday themed 'open mic only' night. See Facebook or our website for details.

Acoustic Open Mike with Ranzer (music, comedy, poetry)
Selected Mondays at 6pm
Ophelia's
388 Broadway
Albany, NY
Host: Randy Staats & Hans S Dirzuweit (Hanser)
It is with great sadness that I must announce that the Acoustic Open Mic with Ranzer at Ophelia's has come to an end. We started it October 7th 2024, and had an off and on attendance of very talented local musicians that came back fairly often. We had a few discussions with the owner along the way that Mondays, in general, had not been profitable throughout the day or night, paying for bartending and kitchen staff, even before we started our open mic and that the owner would rather not be open on Mondays. Essentially the owner is moving the staff to another of his profitable businesses and not opening Ophelia's on Mondays effective immediately.

Calling all musicians, singers, rappers, poets, storytellers, comedians, lecturers, philosophers, and magicians!

Open mic is coming to the CO Lab on October 15th!

Maybe you’re a musician who has a few new songs you want to try out on a real audience; maybe you’re a comedian who has some new material, but not enough for a whole set; perhaps you are a poet and you are having a hard time finding a place to share your work; perchance you are a storyteller who wishes to regale an audience like the ancient Homer but everyone is too busy binging streaming services.

Open Mic is coming to the CO Lab on October 15th!

Do you have a talent and want to share it?

Are you tired of open mics at noisy, stinky bars when half the crowd isn’t even bothering to listen?

Do you want to share your talents to an audience of like-minded artists and art enthusiasts?

Are you looking for a good place to hang out and get creative?

Open Mic is coming to the CO Lab on October 15th!

Come through and sign up at 7:30 and the music will get started at 8 PM. Bring your voices, guitars, keyboards, drum machines, bongos, djembes, sketchbooks, notebooks, songs, dances, stories, harmonicas, saxophones, trumpets… bring whatever you’d like to bring on stage share with fellow creators.

Open mic is coming to the CO Lab on October 15th!

As always the event is all ages, everyone is welcome.

Come on by. We are happy to meet you and hear you at the Open Mic at the CO Lab on October 15th!

All are welcome, and most nights it starts as open mic and ends with some collaborations and jams. Every Wednesday starting at 8 at Hill’s Tavern.
