US and Canadian Open Mikes - by musicians, for musicians

User profile: Nuclear Poetry

"Poetry is not only dream and vision; it is the skeleton architecture of our lives. It lays the foundations for a future of change, a bridge across our fears of what has never been before."

Please join us for a special night of Nuclear Poetry as we pay tribute to the new decade and begin our yearlong Time Capsule Project: a collaboration of words, images and music.

The basement of Elmo will again transform into a 'literary bomb shelter' for a night of performance art and spoken word with a theatrical touch; Creative writers of all sorts will read original works by candlelight, drinks will be served and a special multimedia opening set to music by the Editors, Bear in Heaven and a song specifically written for the event will kickstart the night.

Doors at 8, show at 8:30. Thanks to the people at Elmo there's no cover for the event, so just buy a drink or two if you're thirsty.

We'll be recording the event in full for podcast on iTunes and & the night will end with an open mic, so if you have poems burning holes in that moleskin notebook, don't be shy - bring them along. Especially if you've never read in front of an audience before.

DIANA ARNOLD, kidnapped Californian. Brought to the big Bad city where she
