I am a proud father of an adult daughter with autism. A friend and I started a nonprofit called New Avenue Foundation a registered 501(c)(3) public charity. Our mission is to help create more meaningful lives for people with disabilities through innovative social, employment and housing programs. We have been running a weekly coffeehouse called Our Community Cup http://ourcommunitycup.com for over a year now as a way to build community and help one another respect our differences.

I've met a lot of musicians along the way and wanted to give back by starting an open mic to give everyone an opportunity to have a moment to showcase their talent.
