This is a variation of an open mic. In the style of LA's Writer's Round, there are three rounds of performers. The first round consists of three performers selected randomly from a bowl. Artists can show up early to get their name included or sign up online (https://www.storyandtune.com/writers-round-sd). Each artist takes a turn performing one song, explaining the story or talking about the songwriting process. Artists play two songs total in the first round. The second round is the featured round of three artists previously arranged by the host. The featured performers do the same thing as the first round, but play four songs total. After round two, each featured artist picks a name out of the bowl for the final round. This is a great opportunity to network with local songwriters and creators. Many notable musicians have already attended to include: Lee Coulter, Jeff Berkeley, Aaron Bowen, Rachel de Koekkoek, and Joshua Taylor.

This open mic has 19 slots and are selected via a lottery system. There is a featured performer every week as well. Show up early (around 5:30pm) to put your name on a ticket, and place it in the polka-dotted top-hat located on stage. At 5:55pm, the host, Myles, pulls those tickets from the hat, and the artist writes their name on the list. Slots are filled in order of the names being picked. Attendance during ticket-pulling is mandatory. If person is not present when their name is called, then we hold on to it and keep it for next week. When the list fills up, Artists who do not get called will have their tickets saved for the following week. This increases the odds of being picked. After three consecutive weeks of not being selected, artists will receive a slot of their choice on week number four.
