US and Canadian Open Mikes - by musicians, for musicians

Presumed Suspended Due To Covid-19 Closures

April 9, 2020

We're assuming that most, if not all, of the non-virtual Open Mikes listed on this site are on hold for now. Rather than encourage anyone to go out for no good reason, we're marking all Open Mikes on-hold until we hear otherwise from the listing owners.

The Moonshine Cafe is a music-focused venue with a homey atmosphere, great locals beer and a BBQ always ready to go.

The Open Stage has been a fixture here for ten years and it's going strong! Each performer gets a two-song set. When we've made it through the list, we often turn the night into an open jam with lots of players joining in together.

We call it an acoustic open stage only to distinguish it from an electric blues or rock jam. There's no house band here. We have a snare and high-hat for those who want a bit of rhythm and we offer a house guitar, bass and upright piano as well. However, you are encouraged to bring your own instruments. The night is very relaxed and we enjoy a varied and eclectic show, so if you sing and play guitar that's great! If you play clarinet with an improv jazz trio, that's great too! Bring it on!!

The night attracts many great players from the region, so don't just come to play: You'll want to stay for the whole show! Each week brings something new, different and wonderful!
