Went because of the somewhat decent reviews. Got in at about 8:30 and signed up. Host went on, played 3 songs and then did a "free crapola" giveaway. I figured he was done and would call the next person up. Instead, he played from 8:30 until 9:45 (probably even longer, I left at about this time). After waiting and waiting and waiting… it was more like a live show for the host, with a following up by a few others. He made mention that a few on the list hadn't arrived yet, but instead of going to the next person, he just kept on playing. Will not go back. If it starts at 8:30, and goes almost to 10 with only one act playing, its not an open mic.

phil cawsto (8/2007): if you're a new-comer dont expect to play before 1am… but drinking beer is a good way to pass the time. plus, they have "free crapola" giveaways between musicians!
