Is there a piano available by any chance?
Mike (2/2007)- Great open mic, my favorite in Portland. Great sound, talented performers, nice room and a nice listening crowd. Get there early as the sign-up fills fast. As of July 2006 there are no longer featured performers, only open mic, and Sunday nights are now non-smoking. Hosted by John Vechiarelli, who does a great job.
Matt Meighan (7/2006)- Went for the first time 3/12. Didn't come to play just to check it out. First thing I noticed was the great sound! Wow! John was not sitting still he was working it all night to get the best mix for the performer, very good job. Talent was good, I was impressed, higher level of talent than what I have seen else where. The featured artist was "Rich Man's Burden" great sound! I would not have wanted to follow them. Couldn't stay long. Great Venue. It's an open mic night alright, just wouldn't want to play after the featured artists, tough act to follow.
Andrew Frost (3/2006)-
This is most definitely an Open Mic. I know because i have run sound on it for over a year now every Sunday. While it is true that there is a featured artist in the middle of the evening, I go through about 20 performers each night who have signed up to play. Also, there is definitely never been any sort of "jam session" involved, although once in a while a musician may sit in with someone during their set.
This format combines folks who are new to performing with seasoned veterans and featured touring and local talent in a great room with a great sound system and an attentive audience. It has proven to be a very popular weekly event, but I always do my best to make sure that everyone gets a chance to play, and it is rare that we can't squeeze someone in for at least a song.
john v (3/2006)- There's not really an open mic here. Its a showcase invitation and a jam session. It shouldn't be listed as an open mic. Additionally, when you call or write them, they avoid saying anything about it. Wierd…
openmicmike (3/2006)- I've been going to this open mic regularly for over a year and it is great. This guy who says it isn't an open mic must have been drunk, because I don't know how he came up with that comment. Great sound! Great people! Great venue! It's the best open mic I've ever been to, and the talent has inspired me to work harder at my songs.
