Is this a diverse crowd? How do I get on the sign-up list? Is there a band also can I bring my tracks? What type of musicians come here?
peaches (11/2009)- Peaches ALL info to get answers to your question is here: phone, address, time so GO THERE and FIND OUT.
anonymous (1/2010)- VoxPop seems open to hearing new talent and friendly to music students looking to gain live performance experience.
Anonymous (10/2009)- Don't bother doing comedy at this place. Crowd doesn't want to hear it and talked throughout my entire set. The host was apologetic, but it seemed like even he had grown sick of the crowd that comes out for his open mic. People talk during everything, but it really is impossible if you're doing comedy or any kind of spoken word performance. Hate to rag on such a cool café, but probably the worst open mic experience I've ever had.
J (10/2009)- This is my 4th time going to this open mic, and I do have to say that I really like it. The host is really fair with letting people play, and there's a lot of good talent here too. Definitely worth at least checking out… also, the food is absolutely delicious :) - johnflor www.myspace.com/johnflor
John-Flor Sisante (8/2008)- I held out hope for Vox Pop given it prides itself on embracing liberal politics and promotes itself as offering a stage to do it on. the sad reality is that it's just one of those places where the audience talks loudly all night over everybody who gets on stage. what’s most discouraging is that the audience is made up mostly of players themselves. after I finished, the host went on the mic and said "thank you, Shaun, wait, what's your name?" but I guess that's as much amusing as it is insulting. I suppose I’m crazy for anticipating unity and empowerment anywhere in music anymore
