- This is my 4th time going to this open mic, and I do have to say that I really like it. The host is really fair with letting people play, and there's a lot of good talent here too. Definitely worth at least checking out… also, the food is absolutely delicious :) - johnflor www.myspace.com/johnflor
John-Flor Sisante (8/2008)- I held out hope for Vox Pop given it prides itself on embracing liberal politics and promotes itself as offering a stage to do it on. the sad reality is that it's just one of those places where the audience talks loudly all night over everybody who gets on stage. what’s most discouraging is that the audience is made up mostly of players themselves. after I finished, the host went on the mic and said "thank you, Shaun, wait, what's your name?" but I guess that's as much amusing as it is insulting. I suppose I’m crazy for anticipating unity and empowerment anywhere in music anymore

hi folks: does anyone know if singers are welcome to perform here on Sunday nights at the open-mike night? if so, what time? Is an accompanist provided? I'll be in NYC for the weekend of the 22nd. I live in south beach having moved here 5 years ago from park slope. I'd love to come back home to sing. Thanks so much.
Angela (10/2006)- This is a fun, easy-going scene. Everyone gets 3 songs.
Holly GoAnarchy (10/2006)- Who knew the coolest place in New York would be tucked all the way in the heart of Flatbush? This place is off the hook… super-political, great fair-trade coffee, killer locally brewed beer, vagan snacks and a book store to boot. Definitely Soul Force approved. See you there!
