Gypsy Sally's, a new live music venue in Georgetown, is now hosting an Open Mic in the Vinyl Lounge every Tuesday from 8pm-12am. This will be a singer songwriter oriented night, although cover songs are always welcome. We have a good PA and all mic, cables etc. are provided. The Vinyl Lounge has a small stage, so no room for drum kits, but we do have a djembe, cajon and bongos on site for percussionists. A cocktail kit or snare set up would also be doable. A house piano and guitar and bass amps are available by request.
We will also be adding a dedicated singer songwriter showcase as well as featured artist nights, so the Open Mic will be a good way to sign up for those spots. Let your friends know that we'll be running $3 cans of PBR and Miller Lite and shots of Jim Beam for $5 until 10pm. Participating musicians get the deal all night. We will have weekly food specials as well. Musicians who show up regularly with fans in tow will be able to hit up Silky Dave for free drinks.
Sign up begins on site at 7:30pm (we'll be there if you want to come earlier). Your host is the owner, Silky Dave, so please forward any questions you have to me and you can look us up at www.gypsysallys.com. We are located under the Whitehurst Freeway at 3401 K St. NW (K turns into Water St. at Wisconsin Ave.). The entrance to The Vinyl Lounge is in back, so just walk up 34th St. which dead ends in our driveway and you will see the entrance to the left of our garage door.
There is usually plenty of street parking. I think that's it… please get in touch if you have questions or just drop on by… I'm bound to be there.
