- A cool place but yeah, difficult to grapple visible attention - we sold CDs and had lots of compliments afterwards (and about 20 people came out to see our show the next night based on our open mic performance - word of mouth from this open mic seems to work well) - but it was like people were EMBARASSED to applaud. The PA is very hit or miss and the MC seems to be whoever jumps up and does it (act like a local and announce the next person on the list after your set). The lack of a designated host means that control of your sound is pretty much up to your own vocal / mic experience and you fiddling the controls on your instrument. Despite that there didnt seem to be any major abuses and everyone was very cooperative. Interesting night. People aren't going to tell you how this one runs unless you ask. Good food though.
rob ilyAIMY (9/2007)- Went on a Thursday night. Good size stage. Good PA. Started around 8 ish. Was well run that night. Lotta good talent in the room. Café serves beer too so audience was like a bar crowd. Good vibe. Must fight for attention but if you're good, you'll get it and it's definately worth doing.
Pete/Peasants (11/2005)- Lousy sound system, no MC, bored audience, but good musicians nonetheless. Great place to see weird, undiscovered talent.
