Bravo-Great this is an excelent open mic. The house is packed and the audience is great. Going on with a bass guitar only and vocals the audience was great thanks - If you are a traveling artist make this a must.

Because of the age bias at this venue, as a Vietnam era born performer I would never dream of boring the crowd with my latest songs born of my long perspective on history. When I visit Seattle I will keep my distance. What is the cut off age anyway--50, 45, 35? When is one over the hill, too old, irrelevant?

The cut off age is 120. Bring exactly what you want to bring, the way you want to bring it. I'd rather be fascinated with what's boring than bored with what's fascinating.

I went to the Trabant for the first time tonight. Overall, I had a great time. There is a lot of very good talent in Seattle and they will show well here. This is the first open mike I have been too where they insist upon originals. I really like that. The host, Joe, is gracious and good hearted. The guy who helps him with the sound is attentive, discerning and has a good ear. The room plays well and the audience is cool. The Chai is awesome and the staff is great. Come, drink chai and let your soul out.

Been a few times. Sometimes there is one or two original, talented performers. Sometimes it's a night of so-so. These comments about only wanting young performers because middle-aged performers are doing John Denver covers - are plain stupid and I didn't notice a bias. It is the same as saying the place is full of upper middle class, rebel wannabes - all dressing in black like little copies of each other and trying to pass off mediocracy as originality.

This place is really trendy, but its got some good performers. It's a little irksome if you like doing covers, because they're strictly original work, but its understandable. Some places, if you aren't careful, can be filled with people doing Greenday, Dave Matthews and Nirvana covers. The people at the computers are slightly irritating, too, but you can't force people to pay attention to you. I've met some awesome people, there, though. Definately a place worth hitting up.
