- Well I tried to get there but my GPS told me to go to the bridge that was closed after driving in circles I gave up.If your driving south you have to go over the big bridge on 95 then take the first exit.

Here's why the thread is confusing… There are TWO open mike events at the Press Room, one following the other, representing different genre's and with different social dynamics.
There is an jazz open mike/jam thing that happens first, followed by an acoustic folk thing that happens after. It's not an open mike/jam thing at all, but few jazz scenes really are. It's a crony system - if you know Larry Garland, who has been hosting since Gabriel blew, you might get to play. Otherwise, forget it. It's just not organized for any kind of equity.
The folk scene varies, as people said, from week to week depending on the host.

We are a folk (lots of harmony) and soft rock group… would we fit in?

- I recommend Café on the Corner (Dover) 2nd Tuesday of every month or the weekly Dover Brickhouse open mike. The Press Room is a crap shoot when it comes to a welcoming crowd

- Your waitress or the bartender can add your name onto the list, just ask. Only been there twice, hosts very good both times. Occasionally, someone wants to play a guitar then the piano, requires mic changes and takes time. Good place to play.

- Are we talking about the same venue here? I've played here a few times and always got a warm welcome from the crowd and whomever was hosting at the time.
