Something told me to go out last nite to Rathskellar pub in basement of National Hotel. So glad I did cause I got to hear the most tastiest harp player I've heard in decades. Fred Bement. If you ever get a chance to hear this guy,do it! You'll be glad you did. As for me, I hope our paths cross again soon… The national hotel continues to attract players of all levels and the vibe is excellent. Great staff, great audiences & great music! Check it out. This room has good musical karma!

Great as usual, nice appreciative audience. Every time I play this venue (I guess I've done it 5-6 times) it's good. The seafood gumbo is worth a try and the bartender lady has an amazing memory and a friendly way about her, I can't remember her name but I'm working on it. Do it! It's worth a drive.

Jesse Ketchel hosted - a great performer with an amazing story and inspired original songs to match. He's supported himself for two years playing on the street in cities from New Orleans (the word is there's good money for the street musician there) Times Square, Central Park, subways (Philly has cheapskates he says)

Maria guitar and very very beautiful voice, and Steve on drums- I can't believe I'm hearing this great music free. Wonderful original songs, and that voice like liquid gold.

I don't want to forget the chairman of the board, Dan Mclusky. His voice is as elegant as his patrician look. I understand he has a history of street perforning as well.

Really,I had a great time playing, and a great evening listening.
