This open mic sort of runs on its own schedule. Some people play 2-6 songs and the order is random, whatever the guy running it feels like. The crowd is a little rough and some of the performers are awful, but some are also great and as long as you are ready to wait forever, go to it. The bar also has weird rules, like waiting for a server to serve you, and not dancing, but they were nice enough when we were there.

This open mic is now the first and last Monday of every month. Sign up starts at 8:30. We welcome performers of all kinds including: musicians, poets, comedians, magicians, dancers, etc.

Bullcrap!

I got there early with my friend. We had to sit through this folkie guy doing the usual American stuff you hear in every other bar. Then the host showed up with his long dreadlocks. He put out the list and names were already on it. My friend got to be #3 and I was #5. The show started with some guy who fidgeted in his chair played covers with the wrong chords. The 4th act was a duet of country-guys who did 4 long songs with the same pattern over and over. Then, instead of me coming on next to perform some great prog-rock originals and covers, the host bumped me and put on this hip-hop guy who did another long 4 songs! Forget it! I couldn't take it anymore. We left. I only wish I had scissors to cut off that host's dumb dreadlocks!
