- One of the best Jam's in the country. Much of the credit goes to Pete Henderson. Pete makes sure that each group of jammers compliment each other and Pete usually provides something (guitar, harp, vocals) to the set. Great house rhythm section and mostly competent to very good players. Age of jammers is all over the place. Teens to old pros. It's good to see younger players playing blues with respect. There is not a lot of "blues-rock" here but lots of Chicago, Texas, West Coast, Swing, you name it. Pete has been a fixture in the Boston blues scene since the seventies and can match guitar skills with many who have gone on to flame and glory. Check it out.
Lazy Dave (1/2010)-
I hadn't been back to Pete's jam for months; just a lot going on Sunday evenings, I guess.
There's now a piano/keyboard provided by a house band member, so you ivory tinklers definitely want to stop by.
As always, Pete knows how to put a band of jammers together, so expect the talent level to be on par. And, if he thinks the particular group of jammers needs a little juice, Pete will join the group.
The Sunday after Christmas was PACKED, so get there early and let Pete know you're in the house. He'll definitely get you up, and you'll have a very attentive and dance-able crowd to which you can play.
Fred Bement (1/2010)- After deciding finally dusting off the guitar was turned on to Pete's blues jam. Got a chance to loosing up and had a blast! Pete is the real deal and a very gracious host.
Shawn (10/2009)- Went there tonight. I enjoyed myself. There is a lot of talent. I was thown up there with a bunch of folks I didn't know and had an off night but I have to say I enjoyed myself very much listening to the other groupings. A very swinging beat there for most of the rythm sections I saw there (not necessarily mine :-) BTW I ran the open mic at mulligan's in Westbough which tends towards the folky. I totally recommend this blues jam. High caliber of people if you can get in with the right group or bring your own rythm section
BlueLightWas (10/2009)- Sunday night at John Stones with Pete Henderson is the icing on the cake of a great weekend! Pete, do you play "I think she likes me" by Treat Her Right? Awesome blues harp!
Jay (3/2009)
