How do you sign up for Open Mike?
Mike Penkava (1/2012)
-
My guys "Acoustic Avengers" did our first open mic night this last fri. We were like the second act, and we were a little nervous. But it went well. Every second Fri. my guys and I come, we love it even when we don't
perform.

- As you can see, I have posted several times regarding this open mic. The hosts, Keith, Judy, Roger and Carl along with Phil on sound, (aka Off Square Music). make all feel comfortable. It is a very "family" feel with an open invite to join the "family" by coming out to the event. The venue is located in the Woodstock Opera House building and is owned and operated by the local municipality. OSM is a regular user of this venue and have recently held a fund raiser to install a more permanent upgraded sound system and acoustic soundproofing to help keep the sound from interfering with any Opera House productions. OSM not only cares about the performers they get but also the venue itself. Contact Keith at blueloom@sbcglobal.net for a reservation for a time slot to play. 3 songs/15 minutes! Come see why so may of us keep coming back month after month!

- This is a great open mic, it goes from 7 to midnight, 15 minutes per act, very nice room. Beer and wine available. I've been going a couple years now, it's always the highlight of the month!

- These folks are quite good at making talent feel right at home. They choose featured acts that perform from 8:30 to 9:00 from the many people who attend this open mic. They will also bring in special guests for this time slot, local Woodstock area residents who make an impact on the community. There have been classically trained singers, pianists and even 3 "old" guys called The Choir Boys, who recreate the sounds of the great folk boom of the '60's. If you have any interest in performing at all, the trek to Woodstock is more than worth the effort or expense. I go every month and also attend the concerts at the Church in Woodstock as well. Contact Ken at 815-338-5164 or blueloom@sbcglobal, net to register for the last Friday of the month. Rumor has it that soon they will be doing this 2 times a month!
