- I love music of many kinds. I was to an open Mic many years ago when I was in art school. Back then folk was in. Once I even saw and heard Bob Dylan when I was only sixteen. I am absolutely certain I was the only teen who went down to the State Theater. He was onstage, alone, sitting on a high stool, guitar, a harmonica, and wearing a shark skin suit! I was also priviledged to hear Arlo Gutheri, Emmylou Harris, Wille Nelson, Dollie Parton, Joan Baez, and Peter - Paul - Mary. Now, I can't afford to attend concerts, but the open Mic experience at The Sidewalk was a little like a trip to the past. Not all of the performers were talented or great in my opinion, but the fact that they took the RISK to put themselves out there, was courageous. Artists of all types: visual, dancers, poets are a unique group of people. They take do what they do because they want to, not for the $. They are to be applauded. Sandy S.

- This is the best open mic. You get to go up, the audience supports you. You meet a lot of artist. Ben the host is funny and very patient even though he sits through 6 hours of acts. Every single person goes up and even if you perform at 3am there is still an audience that watches and encourages you. Stay late it's worth it, if you believe in your art.
