@tommy bates… yes there is sound reinforcement that can handle the beats. Try to have your own connection cable that converts from your device(example mini plug on ipad) to a 1/4" plug that is

the standard on soundboards.

Riveriew open mic runs 7p to 10p… sign up 6:00 - 6:30 pm… Lottery determines performance order… number signed up determines time limits… max however would be 3 songs or 15 minutes… We make every effort to have first time artists perform… but not at a quarter to ten ;^)…

The River Cafe does a nice job making a new artist feel comfortable and welcome.

It is a nice place to go for the evening.

'Heyday': This has also happened to us (read below) . . . we are semi-irregular spoken word-type-filthy-jeaned-tap-water-sipping-attendees of riverview.

A particular self-assigned protocol,

heirarchy / pecking order certainly nearly hideous pseudo-intellectuality prevail here.

Small groups migrate into the rear hallway to rehearse.

Maybe : erect a sign directiing audience' attention forward

using a large red arrow (kids have an option here)(but pros can keep the attention of children too)

Perhaps : extend the hours of operation later into the evening while soothing kids in the nursery ?
