- I really like this one. I go every week. Drinks are cheap, and since the two new guys (Justin and Glenn) took over last year, I haven't seen one leave without playing. Usually 20 minute sets or 4 songs, awesome crowd that appreciates original stuff.
Lisa (2/2008)- The open mike night is a good one - however, attention should be given by the host as to how many songs each performer plays… A number of times musicians have walked out and never had a chance to play because of inattention to the number of songs played by each musician
anonymous (1/2007)- I really enjoy this open mic. The atmosphere is loose and fun. It attracts a wide variety of interesting acts performing each Thursday . Matt keeps things flowing, so everyone gets a chance to perform. There is a nice diversity of musical styles each week. The crowd is always responsive and positive. Everyone is supportive. Folks are actually there to hear (and play) music. An extra benefit of performing at the open mic at The Red Stallion is its huge stage. The musicians aren’t crammed into a corner somewhere with no room to move. There is plenty of space for a full band with a lot of room to spare. It is worth your while to check out this way above average open mic night.
Fran Carroll (1/2007)- The open mics are held every Thursday. Sign up begins between 9:30 and 10:00 p.m. On most nights there are two guitar amps, a bass amp, and drums available. Acts are welcome to play acoustic or electric. All styles welcome, original or covers. Drafts are $1.50 till close.
