My singer and I have played this open mike twice in the last month. We play nothing but rock songs and the folks here are nothing but friendly and welcoming.

It's a short open mike (2 hours) but everyone gets a chance. I feel this is a special place cuz the musicians themselves are all very accomodating and mindful of how much time they use on stage so that others can get up.

Some times others musicians will come up and jam with the performer(s). For instance, if the performer is playing guitar, a bass player may sit in, or a drummer. It's really pretty cool.

The Music Cafe isn't a bar -- it's a cafe. So one has to be mindful of song lyrics every now and then because there may be children or families enjoying some tasty food. We even change a word out in one of our songs just so we don't drop an F bomb during our set -- it's a courtesy thing the performers do here at this small cafe. The management does appreciate it.
