- I played the open mike at Murphy's last week. Be prepared to be schooled in sweet cool. All the regulars are hard acts to follow and well worth the listening. A great place to see good stage-craft and hear tasty licks crossing about a hundred years of American music. They also make a great and attentive audience. Service and food is excellent. I haven't been in Murphy's in 7 or so years and I felt right at home.
Dick Richards (5/2007)- JW is the gentleman bandit of the Seattle open mike circuit, and it is his skill as a host that makes Murphy's rock so hard. Good food and drink, great crowd, definitely a good open mic to experience. Just make sure you know what you're doing before you take the stage. JW does not suffer fools.
Dave Hates Chico (4/2007)- This is a fun open mic. I last visited it in September '05 and got to do 4 or 5 songs. It had good sound and a very warm and friendly audience. I heard some great talent, and the staff was terrific. This is definitely one to check out.
