Isn't discrimination one of the key reasons you'd want to empower women with events like this? Yet I can't perform just because I have a ween(even though I would love to share a piece glorifying woman in honor of the event). You're only segregating yourselves more and making your goal farther from reach. Hey maybe we should have a men-only event, or black-only, or only people over 30! Yeah! Sexism, racism, ageism… Yaay, keep it going! You fascists.
Bojangles (4/2007): Menstrual Mondays @ Muddy's is the areas only ALL WOMEN open-mic. It is hosted by the Wandering Menstruals, a creative collective that strives to unite, empower and inspire area females to collaborate and innovate. Any and all forms of expression are welcome. There is a house guitar (red acoustic and/or pink strat), 2-3 mics and a PA. The only form of expression not welcome in our space is that which in any way intends to dishonor the sacred feminine. There is no cover, but Muddy's would surely love visitors to sample their fine coffees, teas, pastries, food and selection of local wines and beers. All ages welcome. Men: feel free to come watch and listen, we appreciate your support and love seeing you here, but the stage belongs to the ladies tonight. We founded this open mic to be different from the rest in more ways than one, so you won't find a sign up list; the moderator will simply talk with you about what you want to do and when and fit you in.
