For people coming in from elsewhere, a 2 song limit is hard. How about a time limit instead (like 10 minutes)? Or 3 songs?
Mimi (7/2008)- Two songs but with the possibility of going around again? I gots no complaints - it was a good night and I liked the people. I was certainly expecting a more politically charged atmosphere with a more "slam"-oriented aesthetic and was pleasantly surprised by how laid-back everyone was. People sing along even if they're just guessing at the words (it sounds nice anyways), a couple of impromptu jams on simple tunes with a house bass player - I had a really good time. Very relaxed, but as always, a little tricky playing completely sans amplification. (appreciative audience makes it easier though - just a lot of people play louder than they sing)
rob ilyAIMY (1/2008)- This is a good open mic, not a lot of space but I guess that adds to the small time feel… Only complaint is the 2 song limit, wish it was 3…
abe (8/2007)- All styles of music are welcome. Sign up is 7:30pm and the show starts at 8. Performances are unplugged, but if you specifically need amplification, drop us a line and we'll sort you out. Got questions? Get in touch. We'd love to hear from you. coffeehouse@politics-prose.com (202) 362-2408
