? Hi, is this for musicians only or can storytellers and the such come speak out too? I'm on the raod, promoting my novel and getting on stage whenever i can to chat, read and make the audience laugh. Can I come over? I'll be there for the 15th if that's okay? Let me know when you have a chance. Thanks!

I've been back to the Mirkwood a couple of more times since my last report. There is a growing new community of musicians since they separated the acoustic and electric open mics. Lots of fun at the acoustic night; good musicians and now the sets are 3 songs, because more people are showing up. The sound system has been better lately.

I finally made it to the Mirkwood open mic on Sept. 22, 2010 with three friends. We each got to do 4 song sets. The sound system was good for the audience, but not sufficient in the monitors. I ran into a few other musicians I knew, which made for a fun evening. The audience was very receptive to all the performers. There was even a guy interviewing musicians for a podcast called Open Mics Northwest. Fun evening. We'll be back.

I forgot to say that Wednesdays are now acoustic only. Electric musicians can perform at the Thursday open mic.

Nice, ultra-eclectic venue, great food and the host and the music is really quite good. Jimmy, the host is doing a great job, and sets can be anywhere between 10 mins to 25-30, depending on the number of performers. The sound has actually gotten better in recent months too, I might add.

Get there early, eat dinner, relax, and enjoy!
