This open mic had a lot of great performers, both musicians and comedians. I especially like how it alternates musician and comedian one after the other, it's great! My only complaint is about the host.

He is an overall sweet and lovely guy. However, he talks way too much in between the acts. Each performer gets 10 minutes or 2 songs. Rather than just calling the next performer up each time he consistently gave a 5-10 minute speech between each act; not only dragging on the night, but also annoying the crowd. Towards the end of the night, he then cut down the remaining performers' times to 1 song so everyone would get a chance to play. While this is a nice thought, everyone would get their full 2 songs if he just didn't recite a monologue between each performer. It made him seem very overbearing and self-important despite is otherwise pleasant demeanor.

If you want to make sure you get to perform a full set then get there early, or hope the host in an untalkative mood.

I Appreciate your feed back on our open mic. Its always great to know how artists and supporters feel.

I must enlighten you a little on the soul purpose of our night - It is an Open Mic for the "Emotionally" naked, this means we have created a space for anyone to come and feel comfortable, relaxed and understand that we the host and myself co-ordinate are true advocate to the growth of each and every artist.

This is not just about given a number and playing!

The host is truelly the artists lawyer, having hosted for over 6years now, he has been successful in doing so as he speaks with passion, heart and true intentions of helping everyone who comes into the space. Organising the set up, with sound, backing up musically (on guitar or cajon) when asked and out with at events and shows… helping and encouraging artists always.

For the host to share his words in welcoming every body with stories, reflection on how the artists world is in society I feel is crucial in keeping the essence of Mic-Club Alive!

Mic Club is a nurturing space to connect, reflect and grow.

We allow artists who have played and supported to have a feature spot given them that opportunity to share, I make flyers and promote this every week.

We have also helped create showcases at other New York Venues.

Please pop down again - I am bartender at the event and I would love to meet and share more about all the different opportunities Your host and I help in.

I appreciate your feed back on our open mic it’s always insightful to hear an outsiders point of view!

I feel it is crucial that you understand what we at Mic-Club are doing - We are an Open mic for the "Emotionally Naked"… The host is the artist’s lawyer, dedicating all his free time that evening setting up equipment, balancing sound, Welcoming new and regular artist creating an artist community of growth as opposed to the solo self artist. He also opens himself up creatively and helps play back up on guitar and cajon should artists ask.

We have been running this open mic for 6years in the heart of NYC allowing all artists to have a voice and more importantly to be heard; it is crucial the host does share his voice and be the guide for the evening, his passion and stories create the very humble yet fruitful setting. A space to allow the outside issues pass.

Simple encouragement: - “of no talking while the artist is on stage” is beneficial.

Opening up the door for artists to feature who have played and supported – is also a way we encourage all to come share and connect.

I myself make flyers and promote along with your host.

We have a following of artists from extreme walks of life who continue to support and see beyond time frames and the small misdemeanors. I personally would have preferred you come and chat with your host and I one on one we are open to thoughts and feedback.

Talking on behalf of yourself is one thing but to share your thoughts of what a crowd thought is stretching your opinion.

I do hope you do come back and share your music/art, join us for a drink, share your world.
