If you look at the link to their FB page, it tells you they are part of the Unification Church… google this, it is run by the Reverend Sun Myung Moon.in other words, they are Moonies… be forewarned…

I went to this open mike last night and found there was juuuust enough of a religious undertone that it made me feel uncomfortable. When you walk in, there are cards that discuss the groups' Christian affiliation at the desk where you sign up for your time slot. During the course of the evening, these cards were distributed -quietly, but by the staff - to people assembled in the room. Also the girl who was in charge of things made an announcement at the beginning about a worship service that we were all invited to attend. It was subtle, but it was definitely present, and for those of you uncomfortable with this sort of thing, well I thought it would be nice to know in advance.

On the plus side: The sound system was awesome, they have pro sound guys (2) and you are playing to an assembled crowd of 80 or so in a big auditorium, all paying rapt attention to you and your music. So it is an excellent practice space for you to work out your new material.

This is a very friendly, receptive crowd of all ages (many young people some not even 18) and they have a nice sound system… They have a big room with a stage - I had never been there before and I was received with open arms… I believe it's a Christian ministry that hosts it, but religion was not brought up at the open mic - just a supportive audience. No alcohol, just people who love expression and music. Some talented folks too. Highly recommended to do it at least once. - Erik
