In 48 states of travel this is as close as I have come to the southern Juke joints of my youth in the 70's. Guitar, Bass, Keys, Drum kit, congos, bongos, full percussion… its all there packed into a nice room for 100 just alive with blues, funk , and jam band musicians hankerin to play. They come with Trombones, Saxes, harps, combs, you name it, and Bob welcomes them all. The place is kickin… literally breathing between the studs and jumping off the pad. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The beer is cold, food is ok and no frills. Outside a sand and gravel paring lot full of rumbling dual exhausts on pick ups, the odd motorcycle. Inside, two pool tables are surrounded by carefully worn blue and white checked linoleum tiles. A Southern Rock/ Blues Rockola sits in the corner, unused for blues Jam night. A classic joint with color, verve, patina, and panache'. Of the 200 I've been to… hands down the best open mike I've ever hit!… and hidden in sleepy Fayetteville.
