We've created an open mic that appreciates all acoustical genres and styles.
The way our open mic works; from 7 until 7:40 we feature an artist or group (we set out a tip bucket for this time period and allow the artist to sell their CDs). We try to bring in well respected artist for this section of the evening and have established a regular crowd of listeners that will stay for open mic artist as well.
Then from 7:40 until 10:pm we hold an open mic for local artist to get needed time in front of an audience. We have nurtured a creative and enjoyable artisan based community.
The 10-channel sound system works well for amplifying voice and acoustical instruments and is replete with monitors.
The Venue is Kahve Cafe (Home of the Dessert Panini) in Edgewater, MD. A community-based coffee house in the South River Colony, Main Street Shopping Center. They stay open late for these nights and serve great sandwiches, salads and pastries not to mention coffees and teas. The address is 155 Mitchell's Chance Road, Edgewater, MD 21037.
