The staff is wonderul here. I enjoyed the singers and poetry. At first the commedians were good, but content increasing inappropriate and distasteful. It should remain where humor is from talent not shock value as their is a nice crowd there. The machine that goes off during acts is annoying. There is alot of great and upcoming talent here, espechially the singers, I would highly reccommend going. The guy that runs it is talented and does a good job. The food is also great and their shakes. Thanks,

Went to Open Mike on the 7th August and again on the 14th August, while I think it is a great idea and I did hear some great songs the first week. The comedians (not very funny) ruined it for me last night as they just could not deliver a punch line and 2 of them were up the week before with exactly the same jokes that were not funny first time round. Please Please stop these people and have singer/songwriters only they were all great. And the milkshakes are GREAT

I played the open mic last night and found it to be a great place to play. Yes sometimes the crowd was more interested in their own conversations but not to a level that it was distracting. There were moments where they fell silent and gave their undivided attention.

All except for the one girl who really did just come in to have some ice cream and talk at her boyfriend for what seemed like hours. I don't think he spoke a word. Ah, the power of women. We can eat ice cream and talk your ear off without missing a beat!

The crowd was supportive and responsive.

Now, you wanna play an open mic where you can really get some practice in… not only in music but in patience, and in deflating the over inflated ego we carry around sometimes?

Then I invite you play the open mic at the Innertown Pub in Chicago. The stage is set right in front of the pool table with a full on game going on. Sometimes you need to move out of the way so as not to be jammed in the guitar by a pool stick!

Did I mention the TV that's on above the bar.

Yes, the grass is always greener.

Kafein is a GREAT place to play. I'll definitely be back.

The only thing I would like to see different is the lights turned down, maybe some candles. Way too bright in there.

Kafein's Open Mike started in January of '04 and, in the short time it's been around, has become a great place for younger performers (ages usually range from 16 to 24) to show off their skills. Good venue for first timers.

Great staff but the audience is dissapointing. When I was there they seemed more interested in thier own conversations than listening. Bad crowd. Mostly singer/songwriters perform.
