We went on 9/6. The audience is very respectful and attentive, more listening to the jammers than many other jams I've been to. Other musicians are friendly and really listen to the music. The host seemed disinterested after his 30 minute set was up. Some jammers got to play more songs than others, not sure why. And you do have to pay a $3 cover even if you are playing. I guess the food and drinks you buy and family/friends you bring with you isn't enough. We will probably go again but it would not be our "regular" jam.

Was there last night 4-5-2009. Mike is a great Host. We went up as a whole band, which was very gracious for Johnny D's to do for us. Great place. Great Food. Great People!!!! LOU - Ten Hills

Yeah, Ok. I went there pretty early one night and listened to the talented Mike Welsh and the house trio play a set. Very good, and then some other musicians from Jersey I think came up and played some stuff. Very good too, then someones' girlfriend went up and sang. Ok. Two and a half hours later I am called up to play. "make the solos short" was my introduction, "as the list is getting long". Hanging around that bar is OK if Duke Robillard is on the bandstand, but listening to people pretend to play blues and then get 7 or 8 minutes to rush through a couple of numbers is NO WAY to run a Blues Jam, Bro.

I used to go to play before it started becoming blues jam hell. It's a good place for the inexperienced because they let anything go and many train wrecks happen. There is very little real blues played nowadays. The cover charge for musicians is bogus. Lame sound system. More downtown than uptown.
