I played this open mic just after new years in 2008. I had a great time - Jimmy and Johnny introduced me to the regulars, waitresses and bartenders and gave me plenty of playing time. I played solo, but it's a good place to bring the band. Play Jimmy's; they'll treat you right. matt

Jimmy's is a great place to get started. They are very supportive, and while the majority of the crowd isn't there to specifically listen to the open mic'ers, there is a core group that comes out every week. Jimmy is a great host, and the atmosphere is outstanding. Jimmy's is the perfect place for your first foray into playing out.

We host open mic every Wednesday from 9pm til 2am. The host is now me and will be for the next 1oo years!

We supply the sound, the drums and the lights!

The format is a simple one;

Acoustic acts go 1st, followed by up to 3 bands, and then it's open jam til closing! Acoustic acts usually get 15 minutes, bands get 20.

There is no theme to the music… blues, rock, groove, folk, metal, punk, classic, reggae, original sounds, you name it; you'll see and hear it!

Bands are encouraged to sign up in advance with me at Jimmystavern.com or at 703-470-4014, acoustic and others are welcome to just show up and play!
