- A fabulous, pretty crappy sound, fun, good (noisy--eating-talking but kind of facing you) crowd of young people that are generally from the local artsy capital hood hood. If this Open Mike was in the middle of no where --- no one would go---but it's in the middle of a populated by young artsy types who want good-ish food and a musical hang-out--hence crowd. Cluster-fuck of a sign up but good spirited. The situation changes from week to week but generally well attended. You'll be jammed into a seat and elbowed to no end so if you're not up for it---ferget it. Worth it if you want to drink beer and be in a pub mosh pit with live music… and friendly folks…

- I haven't found a more welcoming and laid back open mic than the Hopvine Open Mic since Eric Miller has been hosting. Some weeks the lists fills up within the first 10 minutes and other weeks performers are given an additional song because the list is sparse. Each week is a unique experience coupled with the assurance that good beer, food, and music is to be had with good folks.

- I used to go to Hopvine open mike starting about 12 or 13 years ago. I went last night for the first time in many years and it was packed. The MC had people who hadn't played there before sign up first. The sound wasn't the best I have heard but, it did make it clear when really experienced players were up versus inexperienced players. The MC "squeezes" in regulars who come late. The vibe was good overall and the level of talent higher on the whole than 12 years ago. The players are encouraging, the staff is welcoming, and it is a good evening overall.

- We used to like this spot, but good luck getting on the list nowadays. Fills up crazy fast. The food is still outstanding, though.

- Man alive, the Hopvine has gotten more and more packed every Wednesday since DHC took over the hosting in August. But we knew from the start that this was a fill-in gig for us while our buddy Scott was out, and tonight will be our last night at the wheel. It's been fun, Seattle - and it will continue to be good times at the Hopvine, but next week you get a new Mystery Host. So if you want us, and we know you do, come get your fill of DHC's sweet sweet hosting tonight. I don't know what the soups are yet, but I guarantee they will be tasty. Signup at 8:00, music from 8:30 to 10:30.
