- I've been goin to the Shamrock now for almost a year and can honestly say that it's a hoot. The Ponies are extremely welcoming and friendly dudes, not to mention pretty darn good musicians. In general the talent is excellent featuring some up and coming artists and a bunch of regulars. It can be difficult to get a slot so make sure you show up early (the bar's 2 buck PBR's and amazing Shepard's Pie are well worth the sitting around wait).
Dave (1/2010)- wowzaa! The open mic with Action Jackson was beastie!!
Moryah Yadong (12/2009)
Is this a full band open mic or is it acoustic only?
Larry (3/2009)- It's not totally full band friendly. I've seen a drum set there when the house band plays as a four-piece but i'm not sure if other people are allowed to play on it. I know the guys that run it and maybe I could ask the next time i go over there. This is a fun open mic though and Your Little Ponies are really nice guys…
Regal Standard (7/2009)- I have been to quite a few open mics in my day, and I have to say the Hidden Shamrock is hands down the most fun I have had, and the most welcome I have felt on the open mic circuit. A band called Your Little Ponies runs the open mic, and there is an eclectic mix of entertainers, from singer songwriters, to jam bands, to stand up comics and even this old dude singing accapella. The guys that run the open mic are super friendly and always willing to help get you set up, They even let me borrow one of their guitars. Check it out, get there early because the list fills up quick.
joey (5/2007)- The Band who hosts this event definately makes it their show vs. some of the other open-mic's I have attended. They were also not very helpful in setting up the sound and making sure the performers were at the right levels and mix. Overall, pretty poorly run in my opinion. I understand their need to get a gig, however the open-mic's should be about those who want to come out and get some time in front of the mic - not to the band who can book themselves on other longer gigs…
