- This is a nice place I was there on sunday 9/29 and it had to be at least like 110 degrees hooooot!!! this can't be good on your guitar. I waited 3 hours outside waiting in line for them to open the door for sign ups. I played my song (about 3 and a half minutes since you only get 5 minutes so there really there is no time for another song. other than waiting 3 hours in the summer heat just to play one song is rather painful but other than that it is great!

- ? Hi I am a vocalist and rythm guitarist and I would like to know a few things: Does a person need to be at least 18 to play? Are all the songs required to be origionals? And is an audition required or does one simply show up that same day and play?

- The 5 minute limit is what makes the CFMC open mic so awesome. It means a wonderfully eclectic show in around 2 hours. Unlike other shows with extended sets most, folks stick around (politely) for the entire gig. Yeah it's tough to get warmed up in 30 seconds and nerves are evident, but if you can't get your message across in 5 minutes, it's time do some editing! I've managed two, even three ditties, on many occasions! When you are waiting to play, someone else's 10 minutes can seem like an eternity! Love the chicken!

- ok open mic. this is a great open mic for locals, however if you drive from out of town you might not be pleased to know that it is a one song deal. Any open mic should be a two song minimum to make it great for every body (local and out of townners) one song is just a warm up.

- I am from out-of-town, but have always loved this store. So it was great to find a VERY attentive audience, the usual mix of talent, and a lot of support for musicians here. The 5 minute limit per act is pretty tough (at home in Santa Clara, we do 10 minutes), especially as I play in a free-ranging raga-style improvisation that takes a while to crank up the speed. But I brought it in at 5 minutes, only feeling a little cramped. OK, so the little pre-recorded chicken sound is tacky, and they should find a better way to limit the musicians. They might think of going to 10 minutes per act, but since there is no food or drink available, maybe they are trying to keep a lid on the time. They might think also of going to a "lottery", instead of sign-ups. But all in all, a great place; good appreciative crowd.

- I hate the chicken that goes off into an incessant wau wau wau… after your 5 minutes is up and you are trying to finish the song. some body needs to kill that chicken and make chicken noodles out of it.

- As uh… "eloquent" as the self-proclaimed critic is above, this is one of the best music shows in the Inland Empire. Great talent there, and a wide variety of musical styles and instruments. Where else can you see a sitar, charango, mountain dulcimer, mandolin, and banjo all played in one evening? The audience receives everything well, and there is that true "folk" element too. This is one I always look forward to.

- This is a nice open mic, However,You have to play folk music to be fully appreciated, hence the name "Folk music center" not that they don't let you play any thing other than folk music because they do, but even if you sound incredibly good and are incredibly entertaining if you are not playing folk music you will get the sense that your stuff really don't matter and are not particularly appreciated but I guess it would be understandable since after all this is an open mic for folk players and singers.
