Is this place still alive? I have gone by a couple times durring the day and called several times as well as registered on their site and left an email. No signs of life from any direction. There is product in the store but it's never open????? Looks like a cool place, would love to play there…

We wanted to let everyone know that eVocal will not be hosting Open Mic on Xmas Eve and New Years Eve and take the opportunity to say "Thanks so much" to everyone who has contributed to the success of this event as a musician and/or supporter. It is great for us to be able to provide a venue where emerging artists can get in front of a respectful crowd and we are in awe at the talent that is out there. Hi Anonymous! Please feel free to call us anytime to talk about your issues. We are open Tues through Saturday from 12-6PM (949 642 4548 or you can email info@evocal.com.) We have occasionally canceled open mic during a trade show when we are all out of town and once or twice to accommodate a touring band looking to use our venue. We do send out bulletins and call anyone who has already signed up. We changed to Wednesday so that people who follow the open mic circuit have more options to perform. Openmikes.org have never contacted us about any issues and I am surprised to hear that they would remove a venue from their site based on a single complaint without calling to discuss. I am really sorry that your experience has not been good because we have a lot of very happy musicians supporting and getting support from our community.

the comment above should read as follows instead: "Please call ahead to make sure we are hving the open mic before comming". Note that this open mic used to be on thursdays but they were actually dark more often than not including the fact that the last two times I went there there was no open mic and I reported it to openmikes.org who removed it from this site. Now suddenly it appears as an open mic again but on wednesdays. Now, I tryed to go last wednesday and it took forever for some one to pick up the phone to tell me that the open mic's been cancelled. this is a very unreliable open mic and it should serve as a heads up to all open mikers. Sorry but somebody's got to do the dirty work.

It says to call in. I've never had a problem. It might be best to maybe add eVocal as a myspace friend because when the open mics were cancelled, they left a bulletin and even a date when they would return. eVocal is very friendly and they are reliable. I think you just caught them in those weeks it was closed.
