- Mark Kramer is a seasoned, tireless performer. He comps with a lot of regulars and not so regulars and sometimes forgets he's not performing with his Houndogs. Whether they consider that stage their turf or not I haven't determined, but it's only music, and they're not shooting anyone. It's a small place, you've got to negotiate your way on stage, or just plug in. Can be a bit daunting to your average open-miker! Everyone's friendly! Crystal's is always a good night out!
David Sanni (1/2007)-
Crytals is a small, friendly place. Probably can't fit more than 20 people inside the door. Cozy atmosphere, old black dog sleeps on stage (underfoot and in everybodys way) during performances.
The tuesday jam (Oct 2005) features acoustic guitar strummers on a PA. No electric guitars or drums, just Takamine guys with capos, and maybe 2 players who can solo and seem good by comparison.
Strictly junior-varsity, but a good starting place for 3-chord guitarists who yearn to perform live.
Johnny Stingray (10/2005)- This place is just like cheers, but no Ted Danson
(5/2004)- I recently moved to the Atlanta area from Philadelphia where I hosted and attended too many open mics in the last 24 years to admit to. Crystal's is a fun open mic. The people are very friendly, the host of the open mic is a nice guy and fair, and you can always count on a good time. Like most bars, it can get noisy, so its a challenge to have people stop talking and listen to you. And there are some very good musicians that come out also.
Ray Naylor (5/2004)
