- I've been searching for a good weekly Blues Jam to call home and I can now rest a while. Larry's an incredible player who runs this blues jam like Hot Butter.
Tim Foley (2/2010)- i love the blues at the cove and the owners and bartenters are great the food is the best around
Anonymous (4/2009)- This past Sunday, 11/16/08 was a magical night. The players were all on top of their games.A couple of local legends showed up and it was a real treat. There simply is no better blues for free anywhere. I've been playing for over 40 years and I know it when I hear it, and Sunday was absolutely it.Do yourself a favor and just check this open mike out. You won't be dissapointed.
Mye (11/2008)- If you were not there last night you missed one of the best Blues sessions I have ever attended. There were a few dull moments but the rest made up for it in spades. Larry Power was sick and had no voice, but he sure made up the difference in his Guitar work. He and some of the Jammers were SMOKIN HOT! There were several sets of trading 8's that just blew my mind. It all ended with a final tune that went on for 15 minutes of some of the best guitar stuff ever. I don't want to leave out cudos for the Harp players, the sax players, drummers and bass players, all were great. You have to check this Jam out, you won't be sorry.
Mye (1/2008)- This Blues Jam has been going on for over 2 years Hosted by Guy D. The Keyboard Guy and his better half Millie. This past Sunday was the first week in a new Era at the Cove as Guy D. has passed the torch to the House Band. Well let me tell you that although Guy and Millie will be sorely missed, there is no doubt after last Sunday that the show will go on. With 21 Jammers signing in and plenty of audience, the housed rocked(or bluesed) all night. All players are welcome no matter the skill level. everybody there is nice and also helpful. The beer is cold and the food is excellent, and the Blues is great. I highly recomend this one. The P.A. is really good, the amps are Fender, and the atmosphere is friendly and sharing. All you need to bring is your axe, a desire to play or listen, and a couple of friends wouldn't hurt. If you like Blues ,You'll love this Jam. For updates check out thebluesjammer.com
Mye (1/2008)- The Jam will continue into 2008 at the same time and place. Hosting of the Jam has been passed into the able hands of the usual House Band members, Larry, Mike and Sparky from the retiring guy d.
guy d (1/2008)- There will be regular Jams every Sunday as usual this month, Dec. 2007… right to the end of the year.
guy d (12/2007)
What are the hours for this jam? Does it truly start at 5:30?
Fred Bement (11/2007)- This Jam starts promptly on time at 5:30 pm. The house band does several tunes mostly as a sound check, then Jammers begin to play.
guy d (11/2007)- I thought the blues jam was great. Great bunch of guys and we had a great time playing there.
Joe (11/2007)- This jam is well run with lots of good players & Guy & Millie keep it moving, a good place to play or listen. Keep up the good work .
Jeff Wright (11/2007)- This Jam keeps getting better and better! Guy D. does a great job mixing a diverse amount of musical styles, egos and abilities. I get the blues out of me playing my axe at this jam .
Chuck Mustone (11/2007)- The house band is a great bunch a guys, personal and friendly with a lot of talent. Many younger people too. Its a pleasure talking gear and jamming with the super players that come here. This is not just for blues players either. No matter what style you play you can fit into this easy to perform genre. You don't have to be at a pro level to have a good time either. There are some really good jams that go down here so even for listeners this is a fine way to spend an otherwise boring Sunday night. Plenty of easy parking in the back and its not crazy loud. See you there.
Bob Bruno (10/2007)- Really great jam! The house band is excellent too. Really nice people, very welcoming, I wish it were closer to us. Extra thanks to Guy D & Millie!
Jen L. (7/2007)- Hello all of you in Revere. Living in Disney and missing all of my soldiers in Saugus and Revere. Have fun in September when you ride to Salisbury and if you need a hook up in Orlando Keep me in mind. Limos are a option Missing everyonen. How is Billy and Carmella having seen them in years.
nsprdwmn (6/2007)- hi fokes it's jim down in florida missing all of you or as they say down here miss yoll. Haven't found any blues house or any bands playing the blues yet. just wanted to let you know i'm thinking of everyone
jim easton (5/2007)- Well I made it to the Cove: Good jam; The people were very nice there and I had a good time playing some blues harp. P:S thank you to all the players there Sunday I had good time.
Jeff Wright (4/2007)- This Blues Jam is now up and running as usual. In the past 14 months, we have logged in over 1000 appearances and re-appearances of many many Jammers old and new. Visit our website at www.thebluesjammer.com and come around to play or just listen.
guy d (2/2007)- No Blues Jam is scheduled for Super Bowl Sunday 2007.
guy d (2/2007)- The Cove Lounge is making some necessary electrical upgrades to the building. The Jam has had a few unexpected weeks off. We plan to be re-opened on Super Bowl Sunday… which was a huge success last year. Thanks for your interest in this Jam.
guy d (1/2007)- An awesome jam with some awesome people. I haven't seriously played in twenty-five years, family, work, etc.,. It's been a couple of weeks, great blues, great people, excellent steak tips. the band will make anyone sound great!! trust these rusty fingers, check out this jam. new mike
mike (12/2006)- Guys and Gals this is a great Jam. I only wish we had more female singers or people doing backup vocals. Some different instruments would be good too.
Geoffrey (12/2006)- The Christmas Eve jam was unreal. My family from all over the country came to hear the blues, and they sure did. They all raved about the music. I've been hearing praise non-stop since. DON'T MISS NEW YEARS EVE. Should be outrageous . I can't wait.
Mye (12/2006)- The Blues is for everyone. It brings people together, and it feels good to play and to be a part of. Guy and Millie bring you in and make you feel at home. Get your mojo workin' at the Cove Lounge, and git in the scene!
dave fullerton (1/2007)- You cannot get a better "house-band" to back you when you sit-in and jam! These guys can play ANYTHING you throw at them. I attend quite often and ALWAYS have a good time. RESPECT and SUPPORT is what you get at this Jam!
Randy Rhine (12/2006)- I love this Jam. The players are really good. The blues is awsome. It's like an honor to get up and play with these guys, but you wouldn't know it by them. I haven't played in about 4 years and with thier encouragement I am getting my chops back. The food is hot and the beer is cold. Slide in and catch the best free blues in Ma. You heard it from me JIMMY "SKINS" WHALEN.
Mye (12/2006)- Great Open Mic Jam. Guy and the boys are truly generous, and tremendously talented. They make you feel comfortable and are willing to guide over the rough spots and NO ONE is ever made to feel inferior. They have helped me get over my Performance Anxiety with constant encouragement. The cove is laid back and I've never seen even a hint a Problem. The kitchen is great. Be sure to try the Burgers, Tips, and OH! the RIBS. The meat falls from the bone and melts in your mouth. Come play, eat, and be merry. You'll enjoy, I promise.
Mye (12/2006)- Christmas Eve (a Sunday) Jam as usual. New Year's Eve (a Sunday) Jam 9:30-1:45 AM… No Cover or Ticket charge whatsoever. Free Buffet and the rest of it too. Players and audience/dancers all welcomed.
guy d (11/2006)- Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve Blues Jams will happen this year at the Cove. More info at: thebluesjammer.com
guy d (11/2006)- Best Blues Jam north of Boston. Guy D, the Organ Guy and the rest of the house band respect all levels of players. Usually has more than enough players, just needs listeners!
KASH Kline (9/2006)- A Great Jam! On the Ocean… They made a great Live CD also
Chuck Mustone (8/2006)- Get there early before the crowd and play with the house band, avoiding the "who the heck am I playing with?" syndrome. Excellent house band with excellent attitude. If you have the chops, they'll lay down a great groove for them. The house layout isn't as comfortable as the Blue Note, and depending on where you sit you might need to keep your jacket and gloves on - but it's worth it.
