- This place is great. The venue is very charming in its appearance. The stage is really unique, and the sound guys do a KNOCKOUT job in making things sound good. Tonight was my first night and Morgan was the substitute host. Transitions between groups went very smoothly, and though the audience consisted mostly of performers, everyone gave each other their full attention, something that's rare in open mics I've been to. The people are friendly and supportive, and the quality of performers that range from musicians to poets to comedians were great. The featured band of the night was quality. Just as a heads up, there's a $3 cover for performers and $4 cover for audience members.
Sheltered Turtle (3/2010)- UPDATE Sign up starts at 6:30 PM, mayhem at 7. Colin's in the kitchen now… AWESOME specials and coffee. Come to play or watch, both are supercool. Chaplin's has the BEST sound around. Whether just starting or played forever, Chaplin's sound techs make you sound like a million bucks. Poetry and comedy welcome too!
Chrissy DeMartinis (7/2009)- Of the dozen or so venues I have pkayed at in the Chester/Montgomery area, Chaplins is hands down the best. James and Liam do a great job with the sound and setting. Jesse is a monster in the kitchen, whippin' things up. For the most part many of the performers are there to LISTEN. A rarity for sure. No open mike on Super Bowl Sunday as there is a show. Check the website .
Dave Bolles (1/2009)- Great acoustics, a great crowd of mixed aged musicians and poets of different styles and Talent levels. all very supportive and encouraging of one another. To me this is what an open mic is all about. Not a hang out for a bunch of rude local kids that think their rock stars! Check this one out, it's worth it!
Ron tamasco (1/2009)- YES this open mic has real grate acoustics and JD Moloan is the best host in the state. good coffey and the 3 dollar charge to get in sucks but oh well thats life. good place to play and have fun on sundays. i go and rock the joint.
Mario (11/2007)
