- i liked it. real bar. older crowd. nobody gives a fuck about the open mic. which is why i like it. you'll be lucky if you get 3 or 4 people looking in your direction during your set. you have to win them over which is nearly impossible. they are not there for the open mic. this is a great place to get beat up a bit to get ready for the real world. the host was a bit of a dick on a power trip and i like it that way. gets you ready for the real life characters you'd meet if ever on tour. if you're looking for everyone to smile and clap at every cliche word you sing and hear some fat guy with a clipboard say "alright everyone let's put our hands together for Charlie! Great job, Charlie! Hope you come back next week". See at the kibbitz nobody gives a fuck if you come back next week and you'll feel it the moment you'll walk in the door. a real rock n roll dive.

- I've had worse experiences in my life, in fact, this is one of my favorite places both to listen and 2 perform in LA.

- Well, to kind of match what Larry Slater said but from a slighlty different angle It is very vary and really really ironic that the worst open mics I have been to are in hollywood and Canter's kibbitz room happens to be one of them, I don't have any expanation as to why that is since it is supposed to be some what of an entertainment kind of town with places like the whiskey, the Roxy etc… so oddly enough you can find much better open mics in places like Riverside, Santa ana etc… WIERD!!

- The bartenders laugh and shout the whole time making more noise than anyone in the place. They obviously don't like having open mic folks on their turf and make as much rattle and clang as they clan. It's useless to try to play there unless you've got a band big enough to drown out the loudmouths at the bar (mostly the bartenders). At least you can get that experience if that's what you need. It'll hone your concentration in any case. Whereas others were willing to pay respects to less than stellar performers, the bartenders got louder and louder. Go somewhere else if you want the semblance of an open mic.

- is this still going on? havent been in years
